Gohnee Nazoo Fort Liard Sunset

Busy Times

We have once again had very busy times this past year in Fort Liard, but not so much in relation to Gohnee Nazoo Radio.

Many thanks to Walter Pope for he is keeping the station here going in his and Aileen’s home where all the equipment is being housed. Many thanks to Walter and Aileen for their generosity, else Gohnee Nazoo Radio 95.1 would very possibly not have a home in this community.

When I say very busy times in the above sentence it is really true.

Walter and Aileen moved here last year and my wife Noreen and I have been here for 5 years now. As many of you already know, with a major move and relocation there is often a great deal of work to do, especially when you are moving into an older home that has had few upgrades, minimal maintenance, and no renovations over many decades of time.

Much of this work takes many years to finally complete depending upon the task and extent of the repairs. With the short summer seasons that we have up here in the Northwest Territories (almost 4 months and very short spring and fall) we have a very limited window to make repairs, plant garden and harvest, cutting and splitting wood for winter, etc., and at the same time working at jobs.

Following the Lord and Becoming More Like Him

What we are having to do in regards to our homes is similar to how our walk with the Lord is throughout our lives. As we follow the Lord we are a work in progress. He takes out the junk and garbage and corruption (the old man) and He replaces it with something far better. As we go about our lives He whittles away and we gradually become more and more like Him and in the likeness of God.

Our God is a good God. He is faithful and answers our prayers all the time. Sometimes yes, sometimes no, sometimes wait. Sometimes not as we want but always as He decides and sees fit. The number of prayers our Father answers are too numerous to list but we can surely say with Paul, “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” (Phillipians 4:19 – 20)
